Two very different problems
- German cockroaches are small, pale-brown and breed indoors, usually in the kitchen. They arrive in boxes, appliances and second-hand goods and multiply fast.
- Australian and American cockroaches are the big ones that come in from the garden, the roof void or the sewer, especially after rain.
- The treatment for each is different. Getting the identification right is most of the job.
- Seeing them during the day usually means the harbourage is crowded, which is a sign the population is well established.
Treat the harbourage, not the floor
- A technician works out where they are living and how they are getting in — cavities, kickboards, motor housings, roof void, drains.
- Gel and low-chemical product placed into those harbourages, where the cockroaches are, rather than across open surfaces your family touches.
- External entry points treated so the garden population stops resupplying the house.
- If covered pests return to internal areas within 12 months, we re-treat those areas at no charge.
Less chemical, better placed. A gel in the right cavity does more than a spray across a whole kitchen, and none of it ends up on the bench where you make dinner.
What helps the treatment work
- Clear kitchen benches and empty the cupboards under the sink so the technician can reach the cavities.
- Do not bomb or fog the house first. It drives them deeper into the walls and can undo weeks of a baiting program.
- Put pet bowls and toys away and cover fish tanks.
Before you call
Do we need to move out for the day?
No. Most homes are done in a single visit and you can usually stay while we work. The exact time depends on the size of the property and how established the problem is.
Why do I still see a few afterwards?
That is normal for the first week or two. Product carried back into the harbourage keeps working after we leave, so cockroaches come out into the open as it takes effect. If you are still seeing live activity inside after that, call us.
Is it covered by the 12-month period?
Cockroaches inside the house are. If they return to internal areas within 12 months we come back and re-treat at no charge. External areas sit outside the service period because they are exposed to weather and constant re-infestation.
